Samba Baldeh
is the right choice for Wisconsin State Senate District 16.

I am running for State Senate District 16 as a Democrat to create a Wisconsin that works for all people, not just a few.

As I did when I served on both the Madison Common Council and in the Wisconsin State Assembly, I will bring together a diverse group of individuals and communities and encourage all to share their perspectives.

I will listen to these conversations and reflect what I’ve learned in my work as their State Senator.

As a public servant, and as a leader, I am confident that together we can succeed and bring about the change we all aspire to. Let’s start working on the recovery of Wisconsin.

Meet Samba

As an elected official and community member, I have not forgotten my own experience of great poverty. I have also learned of the unmet needs of so many families and individuals in our community.

From Humble Roots…

I recall my childhood in the west African nation of The Gambia where most of my days were spent tending livestock in the bush and helping my nomadic parents.

Later, I attend a “western” school which required a six mile hike each way. I learned to read, speak English, and most importantly, that there was an exciting and unknown world out there for me to explore.

As a college student, I was active in the movement against the nation’s dictator and I soon knew that I had to  leave my home and emigrate to the US for a viable future.

To Building A “Successful” Life

I was an IT Project Manager at American Family Insurance. My wife, Fatou and I own a new house on the northside. I serve in the Wisconsin State Assembly. I have attained what many would consider to be the American Dream.

In my second term on the Madison Common Council, I was honored to be elected Council President. As the Council President, I had the opportunity to work across the city, especially in the north and east areas of the city.

I’m excited to take what I learned on the Common Council and in the State Assembly and bring my experience to the State Senate.
